Using your iPad micro SIM in a regular phone
Quite a few folks have been asking if they can use their iPad’s micro SIM in a regular phone or iPhone. The short answer is no – the micro SIM is too small for regular phones or iPhones.
The good news however is that the technology in the micro SIM is exactly the same as the technology in a regular SIM card – even the gold-plated contacts are in the correct position: this means you can use your iPad SIM card in your phone, but you’ll need an adaptor.
There’s a number of people starting to sell these bits of kit – just Google for “micro sim adapter” and you’ll find plenty of places. I’m sure in a few weeks you’ll see a flood of cheap Chinese adapters on eBay.
Alternatively, you can make your own using a plastic card and some sticky tape – check out this guide: http://hijinksinc.com/2010/05/14/using-a-micro-sim-in-an-iphone-3g/
